RESUMEN
Los tumores carcinoides son entidades raras, pero son los tumores
neuroendócrinos más comunes del tracto gastrointestinal. Dentro
de ese sistema, la mayoría de estos tumores se encuentran en el
intestino delgado (45%), generalmente en el íleon, en el recto
(20%), apéndice (16%), colon (11%) y el menos común como este
caso es el gástrico. El manejo de estos tumores es principalmente
quirúrgico. El manejo de carcinoides gástricos va a depender del
tipo, ya sea 1, 2 o 3. El tipo 3 o esporádico es tratado mediante
gastrectomía parcial o total con resección local de ganglios. El
manejo médico con acidificación de dieta o terapia con análogos
de la somastotatina sigue en debate y solamente se restringe en
pacientes que no son candidatos a cirugía. Se presenta el caso
clínico de un hombre de 63 años de edad con diagnóstico de tumor
carcinoide gástrico y se discute las referencias existentes relacionadas
con esta rara entidad.
