ABSTRACT
Much of equipment is required to guarantee safety during ventilation and orotracheal intubation for the adequate management of the airway. The Bullard Laryngoscope was designed to bring this kind of safety.
Methods: 65 patients ASA I-III that required orotracheal intubation for different procedures were included in this study. A Bullard Elite Circom laryngoscope for adults was used to intubate all the patients. Weight, age, sex and the Mallampati of the patient, were taken into consideration; as well as the number of attempts, time of intubation, and type of incidents during the intubation.
Results: Orotracheal intubation with Bullard Laryngoscope was succesfull in all of our patients. Time for intubation was longer for patients with Mallampati III than for patients with Mallampati I and II. The incidents more frequently found were the orotracheal tube hitting against the right arytenoid cartilage and the tube hitting with a large epiglottis.
Conclusions: The entire sampling was successfully intubated, thus we can conclude that the Bullard Laryngoscope is a safe instrument.
