ABSTRACT
Objective. To include the transuretral resection of prostate in a program of ambulatory surgery to diminish the cost of the procedure.
Material and methods. 20 patients were included with diagnose of growth obstructive prostatic with dear weight of the gland of up to 40 g. We use anesthesia with pudendos blockades in 13 patients and in seven general anesthesia with propofol.
Results. The surgical time was on the average of 50 minutes. The dried up fabric varies from 5 to 50 gr. with a stocking of 20 g. The transuretral resection of prostate by means of a system of short stay is possible, having low complications and an important decrease in costs for the patient and for the Institution.
