ABSTRACT
Introduction. Urinary in continence (UI) is difined as the involuntary urinary leak objective lydemonstrable; the most common is stress incontinence and its age related, affects 1 of every 4 women. Treatment is mostly surgical actually, minimally invasive procedures are the best approaches. Tension-free vaginal tape (TVT-O) has demonstrated success in short and long terms comparable to other surgical procedures. The aim was to determine efficiency and security of the TVT-O in the treatment of UI, evaluating urinary continence and impact of UI in quality of life.
Material and methods. Non randomized trial with pre- and post- procedure
tests, we included women diagnosed with UI, and evaluated UI Severity and its impact with two tests, UDI-6 and IIQ-7.
Results. 50 women were involved, 14% presented with urogenital mild dysfunction and 86% with moderate dysfunction before surgery. During follow-up patients reported improvement not only in UI but also quality of life.
Conclusions. Treatment for UI with TVT-O in a 12 month follow-up its a safe, simple and effective approach. It also improve quality of life in this grupo of patients.
