Open access policies

Published articles and their illustrations, as well as the copyright, are the exclusive property of the journal Cardiovascular and Metabolic Science. The articles contained herein are open access under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivatives 4.0 International License (CC BY-NC-ND 4.0). This means that all content is freely available to all users and institutions.
The editorial processing of articles, from submission to publication, is free of charge to the author (no Article Processing Charges [APCs] or Publication Charges [CCPs]). The journal is funded by the National Association of Cardiologists of Mexico (ANCAM, for its Spanish acronym), a non-profit organization.
The journal currently operates with interoperability that includes free and exclusive use of HTML, XML, and PDF files for medical and general knowledge purposes. Each published article has an assigned DOI provided by CrossRef, as well as a QR code to facilitate access on smartphones, tablets, and other devices, efficiently promoting wider dissemination among healthcare professionals.

Creative Commons Licenses

Creative Commons (CC) licenses are a free legal tool that allows users (licensees) to use copyrighted works without requesting permission from the author, society, organization, or publisher.
The journal Cardiovascular and Metabolic Science and its content are licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivatives (CC BY-NC-ND) license.
This license allows users to copy and distribute the material in any medium or format, without adaptation, solely for non-commercial purposes, and provided that the creator is credited. CC BY-NC-ND includes the following elements:

BY: Credit must be given to the creator.
NC: Only non-commercial use of the work is permitted.
ND: No derivative works or adaptations of this work are permitted.

Digital Preservation Policy

The contents of the journal Cardiovascular and Metabolic Science are permanently digitally preserved using the technological infrastructure of Graphimedic, S.A. de C.V. (Medigraphic), which guarantees the availability of the files in HTML, XML, and PDF formats. Each article has a DOI assigned by CrossRef, which serves as a persistent identifier and ensures long-term content retrieval.
The journal is evaluating its inclusion in recognized international digital preservation systems (LOCKSS/CLOCKSS) to strengthen the permanent availability of its historical archive, which dates back to 1991.

Self-Archiving Policy

Authors may deposit their manuscripts in open access institutional or thematic repositories under the following conditions:

– Preprint (version prior to peer review): permitted in recognized repositories, indicating that the manuscript is under review and specifying the journal Cardiovascular and Metabolic Science as the publication destination.
– Accepted version (postprint): permitted immediately after formal acceptance by the Editorial Committee, including the full bibliographic reference of the article.
– Published version (editorial PDF): permitted immediately after publication, under the terms of the CC BY-NC-ND license.

In all cases, the full reference and DOI of the published article must be included.
