General Editorial Policies

Cardiovascular and Metabolic Science accepts original and unpublished manuscripts, review articles, case reports, and letters to the editor that contribute to the advancement of knowledge and development related to the clinical, surgical, epidemiological, and basic sciences of heart disease, blood vessel diseases, and related sciences from all sources and countries. It also accepts manuscripts submitted by authors with specialties or backgrounds related to cardiology.

Objectives and Scope

– The journal Cardiovascular and Metabolic Science is aimed at the medical community and healthcare professionals.
– Subject Coverage: clinical, surgical, epidemiological, and basic aspects of cardiology.
– Cardiovascular and Metabolic Science publishes articles that represent clinical, surgical, epidemiological, and basic research, as well as technical and scientific developments, innovations, achievements, and medical thought from the institutions, hospitals, and countries where the manuscript originates.

Manuscript Review Policies

– The Editor-in-Chief reserves the right to submit the manuscript for review, determine its suitability, and accept or reject it based on the consensus of the Editorial Committee and/or Board.
– Cardiovascular and Metabolic Science has a general policy of anonymous peer review, with double-blind peer review and an incontrovertible result.
– The manuscript review policies are detailed in the corresponding section at: https://www.medigraphic.com/cgi-bin/new/extra.cgi?TK=1782439443&IDREVISTA=339
– The Editor-in-Chief may request additional information related to the work to be published. In these cases, the authors must promptly provide the journal with the available information for review.
– Bibliographic references: must be structured according to the Vancouver style recommended by the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE). References should follow the guidelines summarized on the NLM Reference Examples webpage (https://www.nlm.nih.gov/bsd/uniform_requirements.html) and detailed in the second edition of NLM Citing Medicine (www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/books/NBK7256).
– Plagiarism detection: All articles submitted for publication are analyzed using the Strike Plagiarism plagiarism detection program.

Text Similarity Review Process

Phase 1 (Editorial Decision - Based on Strike Plagiarism): The decision regarding the manuscript's originality and its potential submission to peer review, request for revisions, or rejection is based on the Strike Plagiarism report.

Phase 2 (Formal Evaluation - Strike Plagiarism): Every manuscript that proceeds to the peer review stage is subject to mandatory analysis using Strike Plagiarism. The generated report is shared with the Editorial Committee and associate editors. This report, along with its contextualized analysis, is thoroughly examined. We consider Strike Plagiarism a robust and appropriate tool for ensuring academic integrity within the context of an indexed publication.
In short, the use of Strike Plagiarism is fundamental, systematic, and decisive.

Ethical Policies

– All researchers must ensure that the planning, conduct, and reporting of research involving human subjects are in accordance with the 2024 revised Declaration of Helsinki (75th WMA General Assembly, Helsinki, Finland, October 2024) (https://www.wma.net/policies-post/wma-declaration-of-helsinki-ethical-principles-for-medical-research-involving-human-subjects/). All authors must seek approval to conduct research from an independent local, regional, or national review body (e.g., ethics committee, institutional review board).
– The ethical policies that must be followed for studies involving human subjects or animals are detailed in the Code of Ethics of the journal Cardiovascular and Metabolic Science: https://www.medigraphic.com/cgi-bin/new/extra.cgi?TK=1782439989&IDREVISTA=339
– In cases where a trademarked product is mentioned, the trademark may only be mentioned once, followed by the generic name or active ingredient in parentheses. Subsequent mentions of the product must be made by its generic name, active ingredient, or the name of the salt (in the case of pharmaceutical substances).
– Occasionally, authors or reviewers may have a conflict of interest regarding the subject of the manuscript. In such circumstances, all submissions will be sent to the Editor-in-Chief and, in certain cases, to the Editorial Committee, who must not have any known interest in the subject. The final decision regarding the acceptance or rejection of the manuscripts will be made by either of them.
