Suplementación de Uncaria tomentosa (uña de gato) en la dieta de Pterophyllum scalare en preparación para el transporte

RESUMEN

Introducción: La Uncaria tomentosa conocida popularmente como uña de gato, es una planta amazónica con propiedades benéficas y terapéuticas en humanos y animales. Es usada en tratamientos de abscesos, artritis, asma, cáncer, inflamación del tracto urinario y prevención de otras enfermedades.
Objetivo: Definir el efecto de la alimentación con Uncaria tomentosa (uña de gato) en Pterophyllum scalare (pez ángel) sometido a estrés.
Métodos: Fueron usados 400 peces con peso promedio inicial de 0,48 ± 0,01 g y largo de 1,9 ± 0,13 cm. Alimentados durante 150 días con cinco niveles de inclusión de la planta en la dieta 0; 75; 150; 300 y 450 mg de harina de hojas de U. tomentosa por kg de alimento balanceado y cuatro repeticiones en delineamiento enteramente al azar. Fueron realizadas biometrías de los peces cada 30 días. Al final del periodo de alimentación, los peces fueron sometidos a simulación de transporte por 24 horas y se evaluó el nivel de glucosa, de mortalidad y parámetros físicos químicos del agua.
Resultados: No existió diferencia significativa en la glucosa, ni en los parámetros de calidad de agua entre los tratamientos después de la simulación de transporte durante 24 horas.
Conclusiones: De esta forma, se evidencia que U. tomentosa en la alimentación de peces como el pez ángel, no tienen efectos antiestrés durante el transporte.
