Utilidad del láser de baja potencia en alopecia: evidencia científica publicada

RESUMEN

Introducción: la fotobiomodulación a través del láser de baja potencia (LLLT) es una terapia emergente en el tratamiento de diversas formas de alopecia; sin embargo, aun cuando es un tratamiento accesible e inocuo, su efectividad clínica no ha sido evaluada de forma regular.
Material y métodos: se realizó una revisión sistemática en las bases de datos para evaluar la efectividad clínica de LLLT.
Resultados: se incluyeron 32 estudios, 42% para alopecia androgénica. El LLLT demostró ser una terapia eficaz en aumento de densidad y grosor de pelo terminal, sin efectos adversos mayores en AGA sin protocolos estandarizados. En alopecia areata se encontró efectividad en actividad de enfermedad y recrecimiento, excepto en formas extensas o establecidas. En alopecias linfocíticas liquenoides, cinco reportes de casos demuestran disminución en síntomas como escama peripilar y mejoría en la percepción cosmética.
Conclusiones: el LLLT es una terapia eficaz y aceptada para algunos tipos de alopecia (sobre todo en AGA), sin efectos adversos mayores.
