Estenosis uretral femenina: una condición infradiagnosticada

RESUMEN

Introducción: La estenosis uretral se define como un estrechamiento anatómico fijo, sintomático de la uretra que no se adapta a la instrumentación uretral, sin embargo, en el caso de las mujeres es una patología que frecuentemente no se diagnostica, lo que conlleva a una selección inadecuada de tratamiento.
Objetivo y metodología: Existen pocos estudios que evidencien parámetros claros de diagnóstico en el caso de la estenosis uretral femenina, además de un limitado recurso bibliográfico que se enfoca en mayor medida en su tratamiento. En este proyecto se revisará definición, anatomía, etiología, manifestaciones clínicas, diagnóstico y tratamiento de esta patología en la población femenina con el fin de ampliar su conocimiento.
Conclusiones: Es importante conocer tanto la anatomía de la uretra femenina como las posibles etiologías de la estenosis uretral para así poder acercarnos al diagnóstico y ofrecer, según la clínica de la paciente, el tratamiento idóneo en cada caso.
