RESUMEN

En 1979 se publicó un trabajo basado en la clasificación del paladar primario y secundario, cuyo objetivo principal era reparar las estructuras del paladar primario. Se corregía el paladar primario con un colgajo vomeriano para prevenir las frecuentes fístulas orovestibulares, reparando el labio y la nariz en forma simultánea con incisiones externas en el dorso nasal. Con el tiempo se adaptaron variantes para utilizar la técnica del colgajo triangular en el labio y se propusieron medidas preventivas (miringotomías bilaterales) para atender los posibles problemas auditivos en el futuro. Ahora, 27 años después, se presenta la actualización del criterio y técnicas que permiten corregir el paladar primario.
