Resumen de la historia clínica
Se trató de un adolescente masculino de 12 años de edad, procedente de Papantla, Veracruz, que inició su padecimiento un mes antes de ingresar al hospital con tos seca en un principio y productiva después, disnea que progresó hasta ortopnea; presentó hemoptisis ocasionalmente, astenia, adinamia y pérdida de aproximadamente siete kilogramos de peso. El paciente fue atendido en hospital regional donde se le dio tratamiento con ampicilina y benzonatato durante siete días; en la consulta subsiguiente la sintomatología se había exacerbado, tenía síndrome de dificultad respiratoria y aumento del diámetro anteroposterior del tórax; una radiografía mostró opacidad total del pulmón derecho por lo que fue referido a hospital pediátrico de tercer nivel de atención.
