Al Director:

La infección y la enfermedad por citomegalovirus (CMV) y virus de Epstein Barr (EBV, por sus siglas en inglés) pueden presentarse en pacientes a los que se les realiza trasplante de células progenitoras hematopoyéticas (TCPH).
La infección por citomegalovirus puede ser responsable de sepsis graves, que puede llevar a la muerte del paciente trasplantado; mientras que la presencia del EBV, puede ocasionar el síndrome linfoproliferativo postrasplante (SLPP). La magnitud de las complicaciones asociadas a estos virus, está relacionada principalmente, con el tipo de trasplante y con el estado serológico del donante y receptor a estos virus.
