INTRODUCCIÓN
Desde 1980 con la llegada y el desarrollo de
la cirugía de mínima invasión, los procedimientos
endoscópicos y laparoscópicos han sustituido
a la cirugía que requería grandes incisiones
como la nefrectomía, prostatectomía retropúbica
y la prostatectomía radical, incluyendo a cirugías
no tan cruentas como la plastía inguinal.
Sin duda, las consideraciones económicas,
la morbilidad para el paciente, los tiempos de
recuperación postoperatorias y la minimización
de las complicaciones quirúrgicas han permitido
el desarrollo de estas técnicas endoscópicas y
laparoscópicas; aunque en su conjunto, para el
anestesiólogo son todo un reto ya que la posición
extrema del paciente y los tiempos quirúrgicos,
en ocasiones prolongados, implican consideraciones
especiales.
