RESUMEN

A diez pacientes se les efectuó artroplastía total de ambas caderas en un solo tiempo. Ocho fueron del sexo masculino y dos del femenino, la media fue de 40 años. Tres presentaban espondilitis anquilosante, otros tres coxartrosis reumática, tres más con coxartrosis idiopática y un caso con necrosis bilateral de la cabeza femoral. Las ventajas de efectuarla en un solo tiempo quirúrgico son disminuir los días de estancia intrahospitalaria, disminuir los costos y el período de convalecencia; y restituir al enfermo a sus actividades habituales lo más pronto posible.
