Dear colleagues and collaborators,

Ever since it was adopted as a quality landmark for scientific journals, the concept of impact factor has been continuously under debate. Although the discussion is still unfinished, many aspects of our professional activity as scientist are frequently dependent on impact factors.
Individual cites to articles published in this Journal are monitored by Scopus and by Scholar Google and can be revised at any time. Based on the cite tracking service kept by Scopus, we calculated the current value of the Revista Latinoamericana de Microbiología impact factor for the volumes published in 2002, 2003 and 2004, being 0.26, 0.4 and 0.4, respectively. These values are comparable with those of other international journals of the area.
