RESUMEN

La manometría ano-rectal permite la evaluación objetiva de diversos aspectos funcionales de la región ano-rectal, de tal manera que se puede medir la presión en reposo y durante la contracción del esfínter anal, la longitud de la zona de mayor presión, sensibilidad y capacidad rectal, así como la complianza rectal. El entendimiento de estas variables ha permitido un mejor tratamiento de diversas enfermedades funcionales de la región ano-rectal.
