RESUMEN

Sir John Struthers (1823-1899). Uno de los primeros presidentes del Colegio de Cirujanos de Edimburgo y profesor de anatomía de la Universidad de Aberdeen, es considerado uno de los científicos y educadores médicos más completos.
La mayor parte de su carrera la utilizó incrementando el currículo del siglo diecinueve, fue uno de los principales promotores de la educación científica como preparación para la carrera de medicina, aunque tuvo un rol importante en promover el desarrollo de la enseñanza clínica de los médicos estudiantes. Muchos de sus trabajos sobre la teoría educacional y el colocar las ciencias básicas en los programas de enseñanza médica tienen una prevalencia importante aun en nuestros días.
