Implementación de la medicina de translación. Una nueva realidad aplicable a la Gastroenterología

Los nuevos progresos en ciencia están influenciando de manera rápida y conforman la actividad de investigación básica y clínica e impactan de manera inmediata en la medicina que practicamos a diario. Esto ha conducido a la aparición de múltiples oportunidades y desafíos en muchos niveles en los campos biomédicos y en áreas asociadas. Hacer frente a estas oportunidades y desafíos hace necesario el plantear nuevos conceptos y estrategias de estudio. Esto se puede realizar mediante la medicina de translación, concepto que integra tanto a la investigación básica con la medicina clínica y se basa en una comprensión multidireccional de la investigación y de la medicina en un contexto socio-económico realista. Aunque la puesta en práctica de la medicina de translación se enfrenta a muchos obstáculos, algunas de sus metas forman parte de nuevos programas de educación en algunas instituciones hospitalarias y en sociedades médicas o científicas. Esta implementación es importante para poder crear un sistema nacional e internacional unificado de investigación alrededor de la medicina de translación.
