En la respuesta inmune participan células y moléculas distribuidas por todo el organismo, tanto en la circulación como en los diversos tejidos del organismo. Sin embargo, grupos de células inmunocompetentes conforman tejidos especializados del sistema inmune, los que a su vez se integran como órganos linfoides.
