Un banco de sangre de cordón umbilical, de acuerdo a la definición de los estándares internacionales de NETCORD, es un centro dedicado a la recolección, procesamiento, estudio, almacenamiento, selección y liberación de unidades de progenitores hematopoyéticos para uso en trasplante no emparentado.
