Distracción alveolar: revisión bibliográfica y presentación de caso clínico

RESUMEN

La distracción osteogénica alveolar es un método quirúrgico que nos permite aumentar la altura del reborde alveolar, promoviendo la neoformación ósea, y conseguir un aumento significativo de los tejidos blandos (vasos y nervios) circundantes a lo que se llama distracción histogénica, ofreciendo un resultado previsible, con bajas tasas de morbilidad e infección y un periodo de espera significativamente menor para la rehabilitación con implantes u otros aditamentos protésicos, en comparación con los métodos tradicionalmente utilizados. Sin embargo, aun así existen complicaciones, las cuales deberán ser tratadas dependiendo de la fase del tratamiento; en este artículo se describen tales complicaciones, así como su tratamiento. Se presenta un caso clínico de distracción alveolar en un injerto autólogo de cresta iliaca en una reconstrucción mandibular posterior a una resección tumoral.
