Neuropatía periférica en pacientes con artritis reumatoide

RESUMEN

El objetivo es determinar la frecuencia de neuropatía y que factores se encuentran asociados al incremento en pacientes con AR. Las manifestaciones neurológicas en la artritis reumatoide (AR) son las más comunes e involucran el sistema nervioso central y periférico. La mayor discapacidad funcional está, asociado a la afectación articular deformante; los pacientes presentan síntomas de neuropatía periférica que pueden estar enmascarados por la sintomatología articular. Estudiamos 73 pacientes de AR clasificados por el Colegio Americano de Reumatología, 6 hombres y 67 mujeres, con o sin sintomatología de nervio periférico, se les realizo examen clínico completo y estudio de velocidades de conducción nerviosa. Se presento neuropatía en 34.2 % de los pacientes. El 27.4 % de los pacientes con neuropatía tenían más de 10 años de duración con la enfermedad y 6.8 % menos de 10 años de duración. Presentaron neuropatía los pacientes en clase funcional 1, en el 11.8 %; en el 28.2 % de clase funcional 2; en el 42.1 % de la 3; y en 100 % de la clase 4. La neuropatía periférica en AR es mas frecuentemente conforme se deteriora la clase funcional y en mayores de 10 años de duración de la enfermedad.
