RESUMEN

El síndrome de Ballantyne, o síndrome en espejo, es una tríada que consiste en la coexistencia de hidrops fetal, edema materno generalizado y placentomegalia. Puede estar relacionado con el hidrops fetal de cualquier causa. En los casos no tratados el pronóstico fetal es pobre. Si la causa se trata, o con la terminación del embarazo la madre retornará a su estado de salud previo. Se comunica el caso de una paciente de 26 años de edad con síndrome en espejo secundario a hidrops fetal no inmunitario, de causa desconocida, acompañado de preeclampsia.
