RESUMEN

El schwannoma vestibular es un tumor benigno que se origina de las células formadoras de mielina del VIII par craneal (vestibulococlear). Corresponde al 8-10% de todos los tumores intracraneales en adultos. Se origina en la porción vestibular del VIII par craneal y se localiza en el ángulo pontocerebeloso. Este padecimiento se caracteriza por deterioro auditivo del lado donde se encuentra localizada la tumoración, tinnitus, pérdida del equilibrio, entumecimiento facial, debilidad muscular y/o parálisis ipsilateral. El objetivo de este trabajo es presentar la imagen por resonancia magnética de una paciente con esta rara condición.
