Síndromes de incertidumbre en la época de la medicina basada en evidencia

RESUMEN

Dentro de la línea general de reflexiones sobre los límites del conocimiento científico en medicina y de la medicina basada en la evidencia, se postula un fenómeno o síndrome de incertidumbre, denominado así por sus semejanzas formales con el principio postulado por Heisenberg dentro de la mecánica cuántica. Se describe la naturaleza de este fenómeno utilizando dos modelos o ejemplos: el conocimiento con el que contamos sobre la viruela y aquel que tenemos sobre los síndromes postgastrectomía-postvagotomía, enfermedades iatrogénicas. Finalmente, se postula una desigualdad aritmética general, aplicable para el análisis y evaluación del conocimiento de cualquier tipo de medida diagnóstica o terapéutica utilizada en la clínica.
