Epicondilitis del cirujano laparoscopista

RESUMEN

Objetivos: Conocer la incidencia y factores de riesgo relacionados con epicondilitis en cirujanos laparoscopistas durante un periodo de nueve años en el Hospital Ángeles León. Material y métodos: Encuesta aplicada a cirujanos de la institución. Resultados: Once médicos cirujanos varones, con edad promedio de 46.4 años y variación de 31 a 62 años; ocho de ellos efectúan cirugía laparoscópica, con promedio de tres cirugías/semana; los tiempos quirúrgicos con promedio de 65 minutos; 81.8% (n = 9) han presentado epicondilitis de codo; localización en el codo izquierdo en ocho casos (72.7%); sólo un caso en el codo derecho (9%); recidiva en un caso (9%) siendo el de mayor edad; duración promedio de la sintomatología de 3.5 meses con variación de 1.5 a 7 meses, presentando discapacidad laboral parcial al menos durante 60 días en cinco casos (45.4%). Actualmente todos están asintomáticos (excepto el cirujano que acude a rehabilitación). Conclusiones: La incidencia de epicondilitis de codo izquierdo en cirujanos laparoscopistas de la institución es alta (72%), incrementándose el riesgo con la edad, con el número de cirugía realizada y tiempos quirúrgicos prolongados.
