La infección hospitalaria o asociada al cuidado de la salud (IAS) según la Organización Mundial de la Salud (OMS) es, “cualquier enfermedad microbiológica o clínicamente reconocible, que afecta al paciente como consecuencia de su ingreso en el hospital o al personal sanitario como consecuencia de su trabajo”.
