Obesidad: enfermedad de alto riesgo en la vida reproductiva de la mujer

RESUMEN

Fundamento: la incidencia de la obesidad aumenta rápidamente en la población mundial; proporcionalmente aparece la enfermedad con más frecuencia en las mujeres en edad fértil elevando los riesgos y complicaciones en este grupo poblacional, comprometiendo la salud reproductiva de las mismas. El conocimiento de las complicaciones y riesgos, que aparecen en este estado mórbido, así como su etiopatogenia, pueden contribuir a minimizar las consecuencias derivadas del mismo.
Objetivo: analizar a través de las evidencias encontradas en la literatura los perjuicios que origina la obesidad en las mujeres en su etapa reproductiva.
Desarrollo: se realizó una revisión bibliográfica exhaustiva y actualizada acerca de los riesgos, causas y complicaciones que aparecen en la etapa reproductiva de la mujer que padece obesidad, así como las consecuencias para su descendencia.
Conclusiones: las evidencias científicas que se sintetizan en la revisión muestran que la obesidad, es un estado mórbido que ocasiona múltiples complicaciones a la mujer durante su vida reproductiva y a su descendencia.
