Utilidad del ultrasonido Doppler transcraneal en Neurología

RESUMEN
El Doppler transcraneal (DTC) es una técnica de ultrasonido no invasiva que permite evaluar la velocidad y dirección del flujo sanguíneo en los segmentos proximales de las principales arterias cerebrales. Se utiliza principalmente en la evaluación y seguimiento de pacientes con enfermedades cerebrovasculares, por lo que se ha convertido en herramienta fundamental para el monitoreo en la fase aguda y de apoyo para el diagnóstico de la muerte encefálica. En esta revisión se resalta la importancia del DTC como herramienta diagnóstica y terapéutica en pacientes con afecciones cerebrovasculares ingresados en una unidad de ictus y como prueba complementaria en el diagnóstico de la muerte encefálica.
