Antibióticos en la terapia periodontal

RESUMEN

El uso de antibióticos en Odontología y en Periodontología es ampliamente aceptado. Sin embargo, la evidencia indica una manera empírica al utilizarlos. Esta breve revisión incluye una perspectiva histórica y un panorama actual acerca de la naturaleza infecciosa de las enfermedades periodontales, una valoración de las indicaciones sobre el uso de antibióticos en las principales afecciones de los tejidos de soporte y otra sobre los criterios para la profilaxis antibiótica.
