Uso de fluoroquinolonas en niños

RESUMEN

En este artículo se hace una revisión de las características de las quinolonas, indicaciones, efectos colaterales y restricciones.
Si bien durante algunos años se limitó su empleo en niños porque se pensaba que afectaban el cartílago de crecimiento, en general se puede considerar que son bien toleradas y seguras, permitiendo su uso a nivel hospitalario y extrahospitalario. Sin embargo, se deben utilizar en situaciones graves y no de manera rutinaria en infecciones leves.
