RESUMEN

El síndrome de ojo seco es una enfermedad de la cual se conocía muy poco; sin embargo en los últimos años se ha adentrado en su patogénesis. Actualmente, aunque falta entendimiento de la misma, se conoce es que una enfermedad multifactorial del ojo y superficie lagrimal. Gracias a nuevos descubrimientos en su génesis, se han concentrado esfuerzos para lograr conseguir un tratamiento eficaz.
