La endoftalmitis es una de las complicaciones más temidas por los cirujanos de
catarata, tan antigua como sus comienzos. Sin embargo, en la actualidad aún se
desconoce la mejor forma de prevenirla. La incidencia fluctúa entre 0,1 a 0,5 %,
aunque en los últimos años algunos países reportan una tendencia a la disminución
de hasta 0,02 %.318-321
