RESUMEN

El pulgar trifalángico tiene una frecuencia de 1 por cada 25,000 nacidos vivos. Se revisaron 28 pacientes con 49 pulgares trifalángicos, en los siguientes hospitales y períodos: Hospital Díaz Lombardo, de 1974 a 1979; Shriners, de 1979 a 1982; Instituto Nacional de Ortopedia, de 1981 a 1982; Hospital ABC, de 1971 a 1998. De los pacientes estudiados, 21 presentaban deformidad bilateral (75%). Se clasificaron según la línea teratológica de Müller y la clasificación de Dieter Buck-Gramcko. A todos se les realizó procedimiento quirúrgico y fueron valorados según la escala de graduación de Cheng. Los resultados quirúrgicos fueron buenos en 48 pulgares (97%) y regular en uno (3%).
