La ansiedad sobre la definición de la muerte no apareció con la era moderna y tecnológica, ya que la muerte en sí misma nunca se ha definido en términos objetivos. Siempre lo ha sido desde el punto de vista subjetivo y fincado en la construcción de la tabla de valores de diferentes sociedades.
