Timo ectópico cervical: presentación de un caso y revisión de la literatura

RESUMEN

Es poco común encontrar un timo ectópico en la cara anterior del cuello; por lo general se presenta en forma de nódulos que aparecen en la región submaxilar o en el interior de la glándula tiroides. Se presenta el caso de una paciente de 10 años de edad que acudió a consulta por aumento de volumen en el cuello, hipotiroidismo y exoftalmos. La paciente fue intervenida quirúrgicamente encontrándose timo ectópico en la región anterior del cuello. Se revisó la literatura especializada describiendo desarrollo embriológico, presentación clínica y tratamiento de los pacientes con timo ectópico.
