FRAGMENTO

En el año 2003 el Seven Joint National Committee (JNC7) (por sus siglas en inglés) estableció que la meta terapéutica de presión arterial debía ser ‹140/90 mmHg en todos los hipertensos, con excepción de los pacientes con diabetes y/o enfermedad renal crónica, en los que el objetivo debía ser de ‹130/80 mmHg. Sin embargo en el 2014 el Eighth Joint National Committee (JNC8) (por sus siglas en inglés) recomienda metas menos estrictas en varios subgrupos, por ejemplo ‹150/90 mmHg en los sujetos mayores de 60 años de edad y ‹140/90 mmHg en las personas con diabetes y/o enfermedad renal crónica.
