La extubación es un momento crucial en la emergencia de la anestesia.

Yousefshahi, Barkhordari, Movafegh, Tavakoli, Paknejad, Bina et al, publicaron que si este período se comparara con el esmero concedido a la intubación traqueal, sobre todo en lo que respecta a la gestión de la vía respiratoria anatómicamente difícil, habría que estar de acuerdo que a través del tiempo se le ha conferido muy poca atención a la extubación.
