Colitis eosinofílica en niños causada por alergia a la proteína de leche de vaca

RESUMEN

La proteína de leche de vaca es considerada el principal alergeno alimentario en los lactantes. La colitis eosinofílica por alergia a esta proteína es de carácter benigno, se presenta también en niños con lactancia materna exclusiva, y una cantidad importante de pacientes no son diagnosticados o permanecen sin ser reportados. La falta de búsqueda y sospecha de esta condición contribuye a una gran morbilidad y consumo de recursos de salud en el grupo de edad afectado. A continuación se realiza el reporte de dos casos y revisión de la literatura, se da a conocer la presentación de esta entidad en nuestro medio, y se insiste en la necesidad constante de considerar su diagnóstico, lo cual permitirá realizar una mayor búsqueda activa e impactar a largo plazo su subdiagnóstico.
