Shleich fue el primero en describir el uso del bloqueo de la vaina de los rectos para relajación de la pared anterior del abdomen. Ferguson y cols. en 1196 describieron el uso de este bloqueo en niños para reparación de hernia umbilical.

Indicaciones

Este bloqueo provee de analgesia sobre la línea media anterior de la pared del abdomen desde la apófisis xifoides hasta la sínfisis del pubis inferiormente, por lo tanto está indicado en las cirugías que involucren incisión de la línea media o paramedia de la pared anterior del abdomen.
