Señor editor: el sobrepeso y la obesidad han aumentado en la población general en gran parte del mundo, al igual que sus bien conocidas complicaciones. En los Estados Unidos de América este incremento en los últimos años ha preocupado a las autoridades de salud; se le ha calificado como la “epidemia del siglo”, a la que se han destinado gran cantidad de recursos para su manejo, control y prevención.
