Comorbilidad entre uso de alcohol y tabaco y adicción a tecnologías de información: evaluación del modelo BIS/BAS

RESUMEN

Esta investigación reporta los resultados de dos estudios. En el primero de ellos se evaluó la correlación entre abuso de alcohol y tabaco y cinco escalas que miden adicción a diferentes tipos de aplicaciones tecnológicas (internet, redes sociales, teléfono móvil, juegos en línea y cibersexo). Una muestra de 600 estudiantes universitarios contestó la batería. Los resultados mostraron correlaciones directas entre las escalas; aquéllas entre consumo de alcohol y las adicciones tecnológicas tuvieron magnitudes más altas que sus contrapartes con abuso de tabaco. En un segundo estudio se aplicó la misma batería y se añadió la escala BIS/BAS. Un total de 622 estudiantes de licenciatura contestaron los instrumentos. Los resultados mostraron que BAS-Búsqueda es un predictor común de abuso de alcohol y algunas adicciones tecnológicas. Por su parte, BAS-Motivación predice abuso de tecnologías de la información que se emplean para interactuar con otros individuos.
