Fototerapia en la era de la terapia biológica. ¿Todavía es efectiva?

RESUMEN

La fototerapia es una terapia ampliamente utilizada en pacientes con psoriasis. Su efectividad ha sido comprobada por la reducción del PASI (índice de severidad del área de psoriasis) y los resultados son comparables a los alcanzados con otras terapias de mayor costo y más efectos adversos. Esta revisión pretende mostrar evidencia acerca de las bondades, indicaciones y contraindicaciones de la fototerapia, la cual es un tratamiento costo-efectividad que puede ser empleada como monoterapia o como tratamiento combinado con otros medicamentos tópicos y/o sistémicos. En la actualidad han venido incursionando nuevas tecnologías, a pesar de esto, la fototerapia sigue teniendo vigencia y su uso continua estando indicado.
