Papel de los proteoglicanos en el folículo piloso

RESUMEN

Los proteoglicanos son constituyentes de la membrana celular, forman el glucocáliz y la matriz extracelular, su composición a base de carbohidratos y aminoácidos sulfatados les confiere cargas negativas capaces de atraer agua y formar geles que resisten fuerzas mecánicas a nivel del tejido conectivo, además de funcionar como membranas semipermeables y selectivas a diversas moléculas catiónicas, su interacción directa e indirecta con los receptores de membrana y factores de crecimiento regula las diferentes vías de transcripción implicadas en el desarrollo de diversos procesos prooncogénicos. En este trabajo revisamos las interacciones de los principales proteoglicanos que se expresan en el folículo piloso, su relación con las vías de señalización implicadas en el desarrollo del mismo y revisamos brevemente algunas enfermedades en las que podría constituir una opción terapéutica.
