Estrategias de manejo de impresiones y su relación con variables psicológicas en una muestra mexicana

RESUMEN
Las estrategias de manejo de impresiones permiten a los individuos controlar la información que proyectan a los demás, crear identidades deseadas y alcanzar metas. Estas implicaciones han atraído un gran interés académico, que han resultado en la realización de múltiples investigaciones en torno a este concepto; sin embargo, hasta el momento no existe un consenso entre los factores que intervienen en el uso de estas estrategias. Por lo anterior, este estudio tuvo por objetivo analizar la relación entre las estrategias para el manejo de impresiones con la autoestima, identidad, discriminación y bienestar subjetivo. Los resultados sustentaron hallazgos anteriores al obtener como principales predictores en el uso de estrategias defensivas al afecto negativo, la ausencia de autoestima positiva y la identidad social y, por otro lado, en el uso de estrategias asertivas a la discriminación, la identidad social, la ausencia de autoestima positiva, el afecto negativo y el afecto positivo.
