Fracturas del complejo cigomático. Reporte de un caso

RESUMEN

Las fracturas del complejo órbito-cigomático representan las lesiones más comunes dentro del trauma facial, comúnmente se relacionan con otras lesiones faciales y prevalecen en pacientes masculinos de la tercera década de la vida. Las fracturas desplazadas del hueso cigomático pueden provocar deformidades evidentes en el tercio medio facial debido a la posición prominente del malar; asimismo, estas lesiones pueden alterar la posición del globo ocular y el contenido de la órbita mostrando compromiso de la visión. Se presenta el caso de un paciente que sufre traumatismo en vehículo automotor provocando politraumatismo. Al descartar compromiso neurológico se trataron las lesiones faciales mediante reducción abierta y fijación interna con material de osteosíntesis bajo anestesia general, sin complicaciones transoperatorias. En el periodo postoperatorio el paciente mostró síntomas de tromboembolia pulmonar grasa, por lo cual se inició manejo con anticoagulantes, al no haber complicaciones posteriores es egresado. Actualmente el paciente muestra adecuada evolución sin datos de compromiso neurológico, ocular ni funcional.
