La mujer en ortodoncia: balance entre la vida profesional y familiar

RESUMEN

El objetivo del presente estudio es indagar sobre el balance entre la vida profesional y familiar de las mujeres cirujano dentista con posgrado de ortodoncia. El presente estudio es de tipo descriptivo y transversal; la nuestra fue 104 mujeres con estudios de posgrado en la especialidad de ortodoncia, se aplicó un cuestionario semi estructurado. A partir del análisis de la información, entre los principales resultados se encontró que la edad promedio es de 42 ± 10 años, en el ámbito familiar el 59% de las especialistas están casadas y el 65% tienen hijos; mientras que el ámbito profesional, el promedio de horas en consulta es 6.5 ± 1.8 horas, el 33% de las ortodoncistas se desempeña en otro trabajo, el 94% pertenece a algún grupo o asociación dental y el 32% manifestó que sí ha tenido alguna dificultad en la práctica privada de la profesión por ser mujer, entre las más destacadas están la organización del tiempo en sus diversos roles y actividades con un 44%, seguido del rol de ser mamá con un 19%.
