Prolapso rectal

RESUMEN
Reportamos un caso de prolapso rectal, ingresado por el Servicio de Urgencias, que a pesar de las maniobras habituales no se pudo reducir, por lo que fue trasladado a quirófano y bajo anestesia regional (bloqueo epidural), se intentó nuevamente la reducción, sin conseguirlo, presentando en las siguientes horas, edema, isquemia y ulceración del tejido rectal prolapsado, por lo que fue necesario resolver el prolapso mediante un procedimiento de abordaje perineal, como es la rectosigmoidectomía perineal o procedimiento de Altemeier, acompañado de levatoroplastia. Las diferentes alternativas en el manejo del prolapso rectal, así como las ventajas, indicaciones y contraindicaciones de los diferentes tipos de abordaje se presentan y discuten en el presente trabajo.
