Actualización sobre patología tiroidea durante el embarazo: hipotiroidismo e hipertiroidismo

RESUMEN

Las alteraciones de la función tiroidea son un conjunto de patologías relativamente comunes en la población general. Estas patologías también se pueden presentar durante el embarazo y de no ser diagnosticadas y tratadas de forma oportuna pueden ocasionar complicaciones para la mujer gestante e incluso causar afectación fetal. El diagnóstico de la disfunción tiroidea durante el embarazo se realiza mediante la cuantificación de los niveles sanguíneos de TSH. Por su parte el tratamiento se encuentra bien definido para la patología clínica, ya sea con levotiroxina para el hipotiroidismo o con propiltiouracilo y derivados de imidazol para el hipertiroidismo. La terapéutica para el manejo de pacientes con enfermedad subclínica no se encuentra bien definido.
