ABSTRACT

In this article the made investigation to people of third age with the objective appears to explore the meaning who have for the greater adults the concepts of oldness and aging. Starting off of the construction of a theoretical content that will help to extend the epistemologic vision of both concepts; obtaining from this form axes on the dynamic process that the aging presents, as well as the static and historical process that it has included to the oldness during long time in diverse contexts. In these theoretical positions the great complexity is demonstrated that both slight knowledge has within the investigation process, because in both an immense amount of social descriptions is enumerated, political, economic, demographic among others related to this phenomenon. Finally, the obtained results of the speeches analyzed from the construction of eight categories of analysis are exposed, being the passage of time, respect, discrimination and isolation, some of the present conceptions within the speeches of the participants.
